Operational from 1892 to 1957, the Old Mackinac Point Lighthouse helped guide vessels through the Straits of Mackinac between Lake Huron and Lake Michigan at the northern tip of MIchigan's Lower Peninsula. The completion of the Mackinac Bridge (pictured in the background) made the lighthouse unnecessary, and it has since been turned into a museum and restored to its 1910 condition.
